If you've never been to Lambeau Field before, go! I've had the opportunity to visit numerous times for Packer training camp and Packer home games. Seats are NOT easy to come by, but luckily we have an in. ;)
Lambeau Field and the Green Bay Packers are quite a unique sports team. They are the only team in the NFL who is publicly owned, which means you can buy stock (when/if it opens) and be an NFL owner! Not only is their ownership unique, but their games have been completely sold out since 1960. It's funny to see the empty ticket booths as you walk into the stadium, probably never to be opened. M is #100,000 on the waiting list for bowl seats, which means the entire bowl needs to empty and refill twice before M gets a seat.
Taking a stadium tour is the best way to experience Lambeau Field, besides going to a game, of course. There are three types of tours that take you to different areas in the stadium. You can visit the rooftop scoreboard, executive club rooms, the press box, and the guest teams locker room. My favorite experience is going to field level and walk thru the players tunnel; the same tunnel the Packers come through at each home game.
Packer training camp is the perfect way to get up close and personal with your favorite Packer player. This usually runs through late July to the end of August, and is great for a weekend getaway. A longstanding tradition during training camp is for the players to walk or ride on kids' bicycles to and from practice. Dozens of kids line up for this opportunity, and seeing a 6' 3", 250 lb linebacker on a child's bike makes for a pretty hilarious photo.
You can then take the short walk to Ray Nitschke Field to watch the Packers practice, sometimes only a few yards from you. After the two hour practice, run over to the gate and wait with your football and sharpie, because the players are on their way. Before jumping back on the bikes and heading to Lambeau, the players sign autographs for their fans. I've gotten to meet Eddie Lacy #27, Randall Cobb #18 and Bryan Bulaga #75, just to name a few.
Overall, Green Bay is a wonderful place for sport history and super fans. Go visit, and you'll feel a part of the Green Bay family too, even if you're a Bears fan.
