Pinnacle Peak is a 3.9 mile out and back trail, located near Scottsdale. Oddly enough, the trail does not reach a ‘peak’ at all. As you begin the hike, a pyramid-shaped mountain lays before you. If you’re me you think, “Yes! I get to climb up there!” Nope. Unfortunately, after hiking some switchbacks, the trail skirts the mountain’s peak. The hike itself is very up and down, which made the return trip no easier. My friends and I each went at our own pace, and often times got separated and walked alone until we regrouped.
The trail was VERY busy. Except for at the turn around spot, there was constantly another group of hikers in view. It reminded me of how a walk would be in Beverly Hills. There is tons of traffic, many people and you’re walking through an affluent neighborhood. From the viewpoints you gaze over a golf course as far as you can see, and in between holes are million dollar mansions. Some are enormous with infinity pools and cabanas paired with a house as long as a football field; it is definitely a sight to see.
